Venting

It had to happen at some point; a bad day at work. For those of you who don't know, or for my 80 year old self when I get there, I work at a fertility clinic. Ironic, I know. I learn more information about more woman's cycles then I ever thought possible. Today one lady asked "when I bring in my husbands container on Monday, do I just slip it to you on the side or do I have to actaully say what it is and why I am here?" Oh the poor sole. So embarrassed and so new at the whole IUI / IVF road. I felt like saying:
Just wait sweetie you'll be throwing around words like Sperm or Semen Analysis in no time. In time you won't even realize that your at the grocery store and you'll be explaining on your cell that your husband had an ejaculate last night or that you are on day 3 of your period. Just wait; the embarrassment is temporary.
But I didn't. I told her it was just the same old same old to us and as soon as we see a brown paper bag we know she has the goods. I really did say 'the goods' and she laughed a little. This part of my job I enjoy. The part I don't like; scheduling. It is always a problem to put IUI's into the schedule. When I first started I was showed how to schedule them even when there are no open appointment slots available. But after a few months I got a call (at home!) telling me I'd made a mistake and to stop doing that. They gave me an alternative plan. Well today I used that plan and wouldn't you know, at the end of the day I got a call from 'the backup' complaining and saying that this too was a no go. What is a girl suppose to do?

Just to set the scene; These are hormonal women who have paid a lot of money to have their husbands 'goods' turkey basted into their ... well, goods and they will be darned if I tell them I have no appointments. I am so annoyed. I can add appointments into the calendars but how do I know if the office has enough staff to do this? This was the big mistake last time after all. I can have them call the main office and schedule through more expierenced front end reps. Oh wait that is what we did today ....

To top it off the phone was ringing when we left. I know it was the supervisor from the other office. (a hunch) But we were already punched out and we let the door slam shut. It will be interesting to see the message left. to be fair, no one is yelling at me, no one else is upset, just perhaps a little annoyed. I just feel like crappola over it.

Don't LOOK!

Dear 55-65 year old man on 97 in Silver Spring,

After my last MD appointment I was headed north on 97 through Silver Spring and saw you walking around a corner toward the bus stop. As I watched you approach the stop I thought, there is a man who will never retire. You sort of reminded me of my Uncle Marty. Anyway, I noticed you had a badge around your neck and a briefcase / man purse at  your left. I was stopped at a red light and was enjoying the scenery when I saw you pass the bus stop and go to the trash can. You obviously know what you did next! Just in case however, you routinely search garbage cans and cannot remember what you did on this particular day I shall enlighten you. You, a well dressed semi casual business man leaned over into the garbage and pulled out a cup of coffee. Then I witnessed you sniff the lid, pull it off, and then drink the contents of the cup! Sir, you really grossed me out.

Since the incident I haven't been able to shake the image. Please no more garbage coffee. Man, you just nasty.

Sincerely,
Me; the one who almost had to jump out of her car and throw-up into that same garbage can.

The Surgery

S had foot surgery on Friday and is home for two weeks. For those who are unaware I am a horrible, horrible, horrible nurse. No hyperbole here. I do not mind being the gopher, or the helper, I actaully take pride in helping and being helpful; I just don't have all that much understanding for things not done my way. The poor guy is so screwed. Yesterday I yelled at him because he went upstairs to get a different pair of shorts. Seriously, like yelling, yelling. I just don't understand why a man with a broken foot would be attempting to go upstairs if he didn't have to. The background story to this is so unimportant that I am boring myself just thinking about it. Anyway, my point. Husband = recovering, me = not so gracious nurse. I can't believe I yelled. I almost never do that.

On the good side he is recovering nicely. The surgery was pretty routine, a bunion removal, where they shave down the bone below the big toe. S's was a little more intense because the surgeon had to break the bone and insert a metal rod/pin a  few screws to help the foot and toes stay straight. So essentially  he is recovering from a broken foot. (doctor's words) Praisingly there has been no complications and he is only taking about half the pain medication that has been prescribed. He complains mostly of soreness and a little nerve pain when he tries to move his toe, all in all, pretty mild compared to his expectations.

Do you think praisingly should be a word? It should be, I am leaving it in there. You know, thankfully prayerful ... like thankful the prayer is answered. Certainly should be a word.

The Mega Wand

As promised lots and lots of over sharing.

So sonogram wands look like giant dildos. There is no polite way to put that one. Anyway, you'd think by now I'd be use to the big honking thing, but no, it still makes me laugh hysterically and it hurts. It especially hurts if I've partaken in some marital togetherness the eve before. So last sonogram the doc comes into the room and there is no wand. After leaving briefly he returned with what he called an 'old fashioned' wand that he hoped would adapt to the machine. Apparently 'old fashioned' meant two times bigger and flipping COLD! Needless to say regardless of the previous evenings activities that fucker was going to hurt. And as I thought this while laying on my back with feet in stirrups it was almost impossible not to crack up until that it the doc said "now, you will feel more pressure than usual" because then holy freezing cold and OUCH! Plus a little resentment - because he actaully knows how this feels??? Can at one point in my life I be  willfully assaulted with  the magic wand by  a women? Also, to add to the grossness, he started way at the top of my lovely women-hood and then slid the thing down into 'position'! There was that gross lube everywhere. The pair of undies I wore after are obviously ruined because no amount of baby wipes could get that goop off and out.

Hi Ho Hi Ho

Life is crazy busy. Our cousins were here for a week (tons of fun!!!) and now life goes back to completely insane! The probing wand begins. Grandma L's estate is being divided up. C is going to camp (during the day). I am going on a diet. (AGAIN!) And so on and so on.

Online-shmonline

I think I am done with Facebook and certain aspects of blogging. There isn't really a big juicy story or anything other than being busy with vacations and parenting over the summer and then the meat off the bone ... I have a few snoopers.

I am not exactly what one would call a 'private' person. I over share and have story for everything. I am quite open to the fact that we want more children after adopting our first and have been struggling with infertility since the get go. I complain, I rant and rave, I tell a good fart story once in a while; case in point; today at the movies an old lady kept dropping bombs and eventually I just had to change seats! It really was that bad. But I digress, as I was saying ... pretty darn open. I like when people read my blog.

There is no reason to hide the fact that you read it. Totally willing to share. Please don't say you don't know I have a blog or facebook page when you've visited it multiple times in the last week. I can see that you know. It is under stats :)

If anyone needs a soap box, mine is now available.

Also, I say I am done, but FET is coming up, so you know I'll be over sharing about the big probing magic wand at Walter Reed! Good Times. See you after a while.

The Highlights

Vacation was so nice. J,K & baby A were a blast to hang out with and I think we all generally had a great time playing at the beach and seeing the sights. Baby A (who is almost a tot!) called me May-ME all week. While bidding adieu to our friends at the airport J said "bye May-me", Crap... that is going to stick. :) Truly an awesome vacation, and here as promised are the highlights.
  • Lots of fun on the beach
  • The water was above 80 degrees, for my New England couterparts this is not really comprehendable, but I swear to you my friends you do not have to spend 40 minutes 'getting used to' the water one toe at a time, you can just walk right in
  • The pools at the condo were great and for the most part not that crowded, my personal favorite being the hot tub and then the lazy river
  • Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach have tons of tourists traps, we tried out as many as we could :)
  • Ripiley's believe it or not museums, Ferris wheel ride, banana boating (just S and C and J went on that one), A Midevil Times type show called Pirates Voyage (super cheesy w/ a slice of Dolly Parton - it was great!) and an even an alligator farm.
  • Tons to eat. Way too much. Including a trip one night to Mr. G's ice cream where I saw a sign for T-shirts 12.99 and Banana Pajamas I forget their price. But as we were standing in line K points out a picture of the Banana Pajama, a huge banana split sundae ... I seriously was thinking it was pajama bottoms. We had a pretty good laugh at me over that one. PS - I was the only one out of five who liked the ice cream. Not a place we'd recommend. Even Cooper complained, what 7 year old doesn't like any type of ice cream? It must have been gross. But who cares - we were at the beach!
  • On the way home we didn't want VK to end so we went back to Myrytle Beach for a little while and then once we were on the road we stopped at South of the Boarder. What a hoot. If you know my husband you have to check out his pic on facebook near Pedro, the mascot form there. It is a riot!
Truly a great VK!

Hot Tubs & Ocean Breezes

Oh man I love this place! I cannot believe how fast the time is flying by. The hotel / condo is pretty darn nice; two bedrooms w/ private balconies and bathrooms, large living / dining / kitchen combo and easy access to pools and the beach. Well off to some banana boating and more body boarding!

Just Beachy

Vacation is in the air. We leave tomorrow for Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I cannot wait, although you'd think I would have been packing all week with how excited I am ... oh yeah, there was a funeral.... Well at least I have an excuse. Anyway, I have one bag packed with six towels. That is it, six beach towels. I assume our friends won't be able to back a bunch of extras because they are flying, so I added a few for them. Also as I sit here wasting time I did take a moment to actually read the condo rental agreement. Get this: They only give us a starter pack for the place which includes two roles of toilet paper and a small bar of soap. Ummmm they obviously forgot that the I will be bringing my husband and for the matter J, of J & K and baby A. Guess I better pack extra toilet paper too. Well and clothes for that matter.

Hot mess.

FET Update: A new pharmacy is making the Lupron and is suppose to ship it to the rental unit at the beach. Hopefully they send needles too, only God knows how I ran out of the small ones, I've got probably 400-500  fatter gaged ones. Figures. I think tomorrow I am just going to ask the nurses at work if they have any extra needles and quite possibly Lupron.

Lupron - Oh CRAP

Yeah - so my notes say 6th Lupron / 13th stop BC. I remembered the 13th... didn't start the Lupron on the 6th though. In fact, I never picked up my scripts. Errr.

What an interesting day. First, I forgot our dog outside and went to the store and out to eat with C. It is 97 degrees out - poor baby. She was fine, I just felt bad. Then I saw my FET notes and realized I am two days off with Lupron. So I called my nurse and asked if she could call the scripts into the shipping pharmacy instead of Walter Reed. All of this was no problem until the pharmacy reported that they do not have Lupron and cannot get it for 72 hours. In 72 hours I will be in SC and it will then be 5 days post start. Crap. Then a silver lining. I tore apart my drug closet, yea I have one of those, filled with thousands of dollars fertility drugs, and found Lupron, just enough to get me by. It looks like being two days late on it isn't that big of a deal because the nurses had me starting it early as a precaution. I am a mess people, a hot mess.

Farewell

Well, it has been a sad, interesting and disheartening couple of days. Saying farewell to my Grandma was hard. The end of an error really; now my mom and my mother's sister and brother are the heads of the family. To quote my aunt "now there is a big gaping hole." I feel it.

Along with the two wakes, the funeral, the family gatherings in between and after, and 'shopping' in my grandmother's house I am mentally drained. It amazes me what people will say and do in the aftermath. The wakes were sad. We were in the same funeral home as my grandfather just a short time ago. Thank God my cousins were there. M, my sister, was too of course but she was a mess; and my heart almost fell completely out of my chest when I saw her crying. C, my oldest cousin was there and I am very thankful. She is the one who knows that I get more afraid of these situations than sad and she is the one who can crack a joke just under her breath so that I am the only one to hear - and vice-versa. Anyway; the happenings at these events were manageable but just sad. It was the shopping that has shook me.

In between the wakes everyone went back to my grandmothers house for lunch and to pour over old family pictures. It was meant to lift the spirits and remember the best of times, and for the most part, it worked. Until my aunt N, who is a very lovely women and so sweet, asked me to take a look around and jot down anything I wanted. I knew this was coming, but it felt so weird. So after choosing a few small memorable items my aunt urged me to choose something else because if we didn't take it it would just go to an auction. I asked if I could have my grandmother's bedroom set. It is very nice, not antique or anything just a nice set that if we gave C, would last him until he was married and beyond. So that went on my list. Months from now everyone's lists will be divided up and the value of what we chose will be taken out of our respective parents inheritance. Once all the bills, taxes, and dust have settle we can go to NJ and pick up our treasures.

It was weird. What was even stranger was that another aunt (G) was urging S to pick stuff out. And he felt really out of place and didn't want to. Even odder was that G shouldn't have been telling anyone to take anything. My mother's brother R and his wife, my aunt N, are the executors of the estate, they are running the show. Without getting into even more family business than one needs to know but with certainly crossing the family privacy line. S and I speculate that G wanted us to beef up our lists because she wants some big ticket items from the estate. The more S and I choose, the more money that would come out of my mother's portion. Sounds crappy doesn't it. Why do I even care, why do I even know this stuff? In grief people do and say things that just don't make sense. One thing G did was to tell people she wanted my Grandmother's car but only if it was valued at 10K or less because she knows she could sell it for 15K. But that isn't how it is suppose to work, you don't make money of someones death. It is all just so disheartening.

None of the shopping made me feel anything but greedy and upset. Hearing what the other grand kids chose, and hearing what was left was awful. And as odd as Aunt G was she was the one who suggested I take the curio cabinet in the dining room. Which if I remember right she is the only one who knows that I helped my grandfather pick out more than half of the little crystal figures in there. My grandmother's birthday was in the summer and I always seemed to be the one visiting the week before and grandpa would take me out to help him shop. One year Aunt G had driven me down to NC where they lived for a short time and she and I went with grandpa to pick out a bear for the cabinet. That part is all very sentimental. That is until I heard someone say that the crystal is very expensive and this lump started to form in my throat. Maybe it all is just a ploy to get more money in column A than B or C. I hate thinking that way.

There is more. And I pretty sure I blogged about it before but kept the post private. Well, to sum up, a few weeks ago I went to my cousin's (3 of them) graduations from high school. In the middle of the ceremony I got a call from a family member telling me about another family member's surprising pregnancy and  sudden miscarriage. I was horrified that she'd call me over it. I was trying to be nice and supportive and concerned but all I could do was listen and try to get her off the phone. There I was just finding out that we were not pregnant, AGAIN, and very sick and I was suppose to support someone who seemed to be relieved that someone else had a miscarriage. I just kept thinking that no miscarriage is a good thing - ever - no matter what people think. It was too much to handle and after the ceremony I was basically sobbing to my parents over it. (they drove) Anyway, I got a real apology at the funeral. A real heartfelt, kind, and thoughtful apology. My mouth was pretty much open for catching flies but I accepted the apology and said my thanks. Honestly I don't think anyone has really apologized for being an ass in this form to me before. I am still not sure how to take it all, other to forgive and let live.

I so need this vacation coming up. I have no plans to do anything other than lay on the beach and have fun with our friends.

2 Sides to Every Pancake

Friday I had the most awesome mommy moment. I was dropping C off at nature camp and as we pulled into the park he said "Oh no, I forgot to tell you I needed a bathing suit today." I told him that I would talk to the counselors and see if he can just wear the shorts he was wearing. So we walked up and asked and were told it was okay. But at the same time all the other kids were pulling out their swim shorts and showing them off. I looked over and C looked so bummed so I told him I'd run home and grab his suit. He gave me a pretty big smile and a thumbs up. After that I headed back to the car but before I was there I heard the tell tale signs of elephants behind me, which always means C is running. When I turned around to look I was slammed into with the biggest hug in history. I just said "you are very welcome buddy." Without a word he just turned and ran back to his group. It was the sweetest thing he has done in quite awhile.

We've had a nice family weekend. Tons of family time and then again lots of time to just chill out and not be busy. Last night we went to a minor league ball game and today we went to church and out to eat.     We also managed to give C and the dog haircuts, watch movies, play games, ride bikes, and play in the kiddie pool. I love my family; we have a good life, and that is why sometimes I feel so guilty for thinking it is all bittersweet.

And now for the downer: I have seen so many pregnant women this weekend. At the game this week there must have been a dozen women waddling around with perfect basket ball shaped bellies. At church this morning another three plus a brand new baby. The newest addition to the congregation was in her mother's arms and the mom was so thrilled, bathing the little one in kisses as they made their way to and from the alter. Obviously I ate my weight in chocolate peanut butter ice cream this evening.

In Which I Steal, I Chart My Cycle, & I Save $$

Well, D, my nurse at Walter Reed called today to schedule our FET.  I didn't exactly get the dates I'd hoped for, but what can one do when their cycle is in a completely different time zone then the rest of their body.... Anyway - I start injections of Lupron in mid July followed by lots and lots of estrogen and progesterone with a  tentative transfer August 9th ish. Actually the dates work out well for S so at least that is a plus. Day 6 Blast here we go.

In other news: I canceled C's summer camp for next week due to the funeral arrangements. The community center was so nice about us canceling. They told me that if we ever need to cancel anything for any reason we have up until four days before the activity to get a 100% credit to our account but then the girl I spoke to added that if there is something like a family emergency it is case by case, so I would have been covered even if skate camp started today.  She really didn't have to add that and I just thought that was so nice. So now the three of us will be going to NJ and C can enroll in a different class or camp to use the credit. (Surprisingly S was able to take the day off on Wednesday and can no travel to NJ with us)

Next order of business: I went to Walmart today. I know, I hate it there, they did after all try to kill me. But I digress. I was on a mission to find blow dry lotion that didn't cost 15 to 20 bucks a bottle. And I was not disappointed, Dove brand 4.88 - JACKPOT! Well, almost more of a jackpot. The following story either makes me sound like the worlds largest idiot or a saint...

I bought a whole bunch of random things, blow dry lotion, a t-shirt, grape soda (C's request), tape, milk, shrimp, anyway you get the idea. So I check out (In front of the worlds slowest customer that had three separate transactions that included a credit card rejection on the third one) and during checkout I read almost an entire issue of COSMO. I was mortified at an article that told me my husbands anus should be treated like my G-Spot; of which I am sure no one has ever found mine! But back to my cart; I pay, I load the bags into the cart and head to the car. I unload the cart and notice the blow dry lotion in out of a bag and then realize that I never paid for it! Oh great, just add theft to my list of crap to talk to the therapist about. Anyway, I take the hair product and go back to the store. I explain to the clerk that I didn't pay for this and I am really sorry. She was super nice and said a bunch of nice things about me and my honesty but really I just wanted to pay and go, secretly wishing they had self check out.

More random news I cannot stand to keep inside: We are headed to SC for VK in just a few weeks. I cannot wait. But, there was a small problem. We had planned on driving my station wagon down there but after some recent car trouble we were rethinking that. Personally I keep flip flopping on weather to just go out and buy a new car - but S is pretty against it because he doesn't know where we will be in 12 months. (he is right) So anyway, my car, the mechanic recommended an entire slew of repairs including new axles, new timing belt, breaks, seat belts, lock system over hall, and more. But here again, we don't want to sink a bunch of money into it if we are just going to sell it before we move. So we opted to rent a van for our VK (We need extra seats because we are VKing with friends) and use S's frequent traveler points to pay for it. But even with discounts and free days it still ends up being just way too expensive. But I solved the problem.

I took my car apart. I took the jump seat out of my Volvo and put it in the back of the Hyundai. There are locking hooks in the back to secure the seat and it was really easy to get it secure. The seat has a spot for a seat belt to go through it, so I just ordered a seat belt extender off Ebay so that the belt would reach around the seat. Now when we go to the beach I will just sit in the back and go with out a seat belt and C can use mine in the new 'way back'. Our friends and their sweet little one will all fit with the right seat belts.

Shock

I assume I was in shock. I spent 5 hours shopping today. Half way through I realized the last time I was in a particular store I was there with my Grandma. I got news earlier today that she passed away. (we knew it was going to happen soon) After the realization that she was gone and wasn't going to be shopping with me again, I called my mommy. She was having lunch with family, my sister, cousins, and aunt. They were all upset and joining together ... I was shopping ... solo. Living so far from family stinks.

Anyway the funeral is next week and I will be trekking up to NJ with C. Scott is going to have to stay here in VA; too much work and work related travel. The poor guy sounded pretty upset over it all. He had always been fond my grandparents. I know I wish he could be there; but I do understand.

Not long ago S told me a funny story about the first time he met my grandmother. I was there but didn't hear this part of a boisterous family dinner. Anyway it was mother's day, 1994 and S came to my house after working the day at CVS. He brought over a bunch of roses that they were handing out in the store that day and gave one to all the girls including my grandmother who responded "What are you doing, trying to suck up?" Ahh Grandma L, always the curmudgeon.

I Zigged; They Zagged

As stated earlier (in multiple posts) I do enjoy making an ass of myself. Last nights Zumba class was no different. I went left the crowd went right, I zigged and they zagged, I clapped and they screamed, I screamed and they clapped. Gosh that was fun! My rhythm is nonexistent, my dancing ability pretty close to nil, and my sense of humor - well that is pretty damn good, which is why I had a blast. I would like to point out that I did not fall, not even once, nor did I trip over my own to feet. Also, I wore my clothes that were too small. What the heck; after all there is no hiding why I need to be there. Besides everyone wears spandex anyway and even skinny girls have rolls somewhere. Who needs to spend their time concerned with that, after all we're in a gym, sweaty, and breathing like we just ran a marathon, who cares what we wear?!

Zumba!

Now that I have the doctor's go ahead I am headed to Zumba! Oh how I miss routinely making an ass of my self as I prance and dance across the gym. Sadly however my work out clothes don't exactly fit. So unless I plan on wearing my birthday suit I may need to suck it up and purchase a set of dare I say XXL sized clothing. OUCH. However obviously the silver lining is that by going back to the gym I will eventually fit back into my clothes.

ZUMBA!

Dizzy is as Dizzy Does

I am certain my funk has lifted. Recently being medically cleared to resume life as usual certainly has helped. The symptoms of OHSS have subsided completely and I am so excited to bike, run, walk, and be silly again. This my friends is good thing considering all the possibles we have pending.

First order of Business

Dear United States Air Force,

Why on God's green earth did you put an air base in middle of the desert? Holloman AFB is quite ironic to the statement of God's Green Earth. But I digress, if you insist on sending us there please make it possible for a clean house and a good school. Currently my online searches have left me wishing for other possibilities.

Furthermore if the orders to "Buffalo" pan out; You will NEED to inform the entire USAF that Buffalo is not ROME! Oh yeah that is right; those who forwarded S's resume to "Buffalo" really thought that was near ROME where the job actually is located. Oh Good lord my life will go full circle won't it?  My being there as a tot just wasn't enough for you? We always suspected you had tracking devises in our teeth. I just wasn't aware they'd been there since age 2.

Just to recap: New Mexico, Make the best if it and Rome does not equal Buffalo.

Kisses,
Jamie

Thirdly:

Dearest Neighbor,

My bad. I didn't mean for my dog to slam into the side door of your car this morning. You see C and I were just trying to teach her how to run next to our bikes on a leash. It was going great until she saw you in the car and wanted to go for a ride. Again, my bad.

But man wasn't she cute?! We had a blast going up and down  the street as fast as her four huge legs could pull us. I know as usual we were quite the sight to see. We wear it like a badge of honor.

As you can see we were just having a good time. Thanks for having such a good sense of humor.

Sincerely,
Jamie & C

Laptop Test

Testing. Randomly this computer is working???

Summer TIME!!

It is the first full day of summer vacation for my little one! It was so nice not to go to the bus stop this morning :) Instead we took Maggie for a big walk and then went to the movies. One of the local movie theaters (Regal) has movies for $1.00 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays all summer. Granted they are last years releases, but who cares - we love going to the movies! We saw Megamind today and man was that funny and cute. The main character pronounces almost everything wrong and that just tickled my funny bone.

Later in the afternoon I suggested a bike ride and C was all for it. We biked about three miles and stopped at a local playground and 7-11 for drinks along the way. All in all we were gone for two hours. Once we got home we were dripping with sweat and so hot and bothered that I thought for sure we'd both just pass out. But alas, ten minutes later C says "Hey mom, you wanna play some catch?" Gosh darn I wish I could bottle that energy :) He settled for a game of Clue and an episode of Drake and Josh.

On the bill for tomorrow.... POOL! I sure hope the weather holds. Hot and Sticky is perfect pool weather.

Snap Out of It!

"The position comes with a chance to deploy"

This is the only line I heard regarding possible orders to New Mexico yesterday afternoon when S called from the office. In a tizzy I checked out the AFB online and was instantly struck with a sinking feeling in my stomach. I don't know about this one. It makes Buffalo look like a dream.

P.O.ed & Then Again Not

Cryptic notes at best:

1st: Things did not goes as I thought they would go regarding swaps. I am not sure if I am a sucker or just miss understanding the whole ordeal. To top it off I am too chicken to ask. There is an entire therapy session nested in between those lines.

2nd: I am not the one to call for gossip masked as "trying to help". Leave me alone!

3rd: Buffalo, Colorado Springs, and now some random place in New Mexico?!?!?

4th: I've only lost 5 of the 20 pounds I gained during the whole IVF / OHSS ordeal.

5th: We were cleared to start another round of IVF and were encouraged by the doctor to do so but there is no way we can afford it. We are going with the FET even though the chances are bad because we only have one. FET is still $2250.00.

6th: I am pretty sure my extended family is on the cusp of falling off the ridges of reality.

7th: I supposed being sort of ticked off isn't the worst thing in the world, but I tell you there are a few things that are really stuck in my craw. And some of them are really bad thoughts about really sad situations.

8th: Thank GOD vacation is only is around the corner. I cannot wait to go to the beach and see our friends.

9th: Just one more thought: Dearest Bullshitter (Surprisingly the word Bullshitter is a real word - who knew?) If you don't mean it just don't say it. You have no idea how phony you come off. Don't call me, I'll call you...

To Be Facebook Redundant

An open letter to the PGA

Dear PGA,

Please stop hosting tournaments in my back yard. Well actaully not literally, that is a different golf course, I mean in neighboring towns. The traffic is crazy with old men wearing hats in big old Cadillacs who cannot merge. I am sure you understand. Please move to the west coast or Florida - that is where we send the grandparents, in case you forgot.
Sincerely,

Jamie

Jamie: The Sitcom

Proof that I should be the star of my own sitcom:
  • Good Lord I am a hot mess.
  • I have great one liners
  • I associate with those who are also hot messes and have quick quips
  • I also associate with those who are sweet and kind and everyone on earth likes them
  • I'm Sassy & quite frankly a little crass
  • Yup, not afraid of the fart joke
  • I've have been and plan on being in many more situations that can be classified as comical misadventures (yesterday and today are so proof that)
  • My family; especially the in-laws
  • I am not afraid of the catch-phrase and plan on developing many such as Hot Damn and Dy-NO-Mite

Back to Life

So the trip to Williamsburg was awesome! The weather was HOT HOT HOT, and it made for a great day at Busch Gardens. We rode every ride we wanted to multiple times, it was so hot that the tourists stayed away. There was us and a few schools and that was it! The park was empty and there were no lines and no waiting all day. Mid afternoon it rained a little and that made the schools leave early. It was awesome. On some rides we just stayed on at the end for a second round. C as usual is a great vacationer, quite comparable to the energizer bunny, he just keeps on going, and he stays in a good mood. It was fun, lots of fun. As usual none of us wanted to leave. We had gotten to the park right when it opened at 10:00am and before we knew it it was already 1:00. The next time we checked the time it was 4:00 and we were headed to the car for a change of clothes and a snack. By 6:30 we had ridden every ride and were thinking we'd start to head home (3 hour drive and I had to work at 6:00am on Saturday) but before we left we wanted to just ride the sky ride across the park. It was so nice! On the farthest side of the park we started our trek towards the exit. But we couldn't resist all the rides a second and third time! The next time we looked at the clock it was a few minutes before 10:00pm and the park was closing! What a complete joy to spend that time having fun with no worries or cares!

So we headed home late and I got up early for work. I certainly was dragging a little but it was so worth it. I just kept on smiling and trying not to show how tired I really was. After work we all went to C's last baseball game of the year. His team as a whole has improved so much since the spring. All the boys and girls were hitting the ball well and fielding well too. But it is still a sweet reminder, even though all the kids have grown like weeds over the past few months, that they are still just little kids when you see them all racing towards a bug found on second base during the game.

Saturday night we went to a surprise party for a friend and again had a great time. The party was outside and they even had a dunk tank! All the kids had a fantastic time with that. S and I met another couple that was really nice. As it turns out they go to our church. It was cool to talk with them through most of the party.

Sunday I also worked and was still tired, but we got out of the hospital early and it was a relatively painless endeavor. After work I met S and C in Arlington for S's championship wiffleball league games. C and I played a lot of catch and watch some of the first game. It was pretty fun but it was just about a hundred degrees and there was absolutely no shade. C and I opted to leave a little early and headed home for some air conditioning and moving watching. In the end I am glad we did, S's team kept winning and actaully played 3 full games with breaks in between and came home pretty sun burned. The raccoon eyes from his sun glasses were awesome. And his bright white feet were hysterical next to his dark brown/ red legs. But really, laughing now - melanoma later. Yikes!

So that brings us to Monday. We all got up extra early to take S to the airport. (L.A. this week) C has school and this afternoon my sister, M will be here! I'd say everything is back to life as usual. We are busy again and not just whining about IVF this and IVF that. (Although we will be soon as we talk about a possible ROUND 4! - Crazy!)

Rotten

I woke up in the worst mood. Completely rotten. I went to bed that way too. S joked that I stayed up to late, that sure 'got my goat'! I did not! I am just tired of trying to make life decisions during the commercials on TV! Also if you are going to watch TV with me, can you please engage in it and get off the darn computer!???!!!

I need a long walk with the pup and Diet Coke. Men.

Two Hours Later:

I feel better. I am not sure what my deal is by man is my husband bugging me. Regardless, I'd better get over it quick because we are headed to Williamsburg tonight. Tomorrow we will be going to Busch Gardens, which I am pretty excited about. Last year we didn't have time to go down and this year might be our last year here.

I suppose the deal is stress. Yesterday he called me to ask me if I'd mind moving to Buffalo! Then over dinner he wants to discuss IVF and how that impacts him going on a remote! He's talking Korea or Turkey people! And apparently Vegas is off the table. They loved him, they want him, they are 150% overmanned; that is how Buffalo came to be, apparently Vegas recommended them to a counterpart there. Please oh please just come home one day with orders and stop throwing around a zillion what if's.

Many More Hours Later:

All my errands are ran, Maggie is at the kennel, the library books are returned, the items made at Clay Cafe have been picked up, New underwear bought at K-mart (funny note there), We're all packed up and the house is picked up. I'm ready to go on our trip. Scott is stuck at work in Maryland, off site, and says he's "trying to get out of there". At least he could call and let me know, right? He thought for sure he'd be home already but he is at least two hours away. The Highway Awaits!

**Funny Note**

I do 85% of the laundry. S does a few loads here and there, but mostly its me. Anyway as I do the laundry I pitch underwear and socks that have holes or ... stains. Anyway I noticed that S was doing a little more laundry than normal, but only his own clothes, and when I'd go to put them in the dryer I'd notice only socks and underwear. Weird, they don't take up a whole load, I thought. As it turns out he only had a handful of each left! I'd thrown out almost all of the man's underwear! LOL. The funniest part, he didn't really notice he just thought I was behind on laundry so he opted to do a few loads of the necessities. Cracks me up.

Boxes Checked

  • Summer Camp Sign Up
  • Book Dog Kennel
  • Returns to the following, Wal-mart, K-mart, CVS, Khol's
  • Buy New Key Board for Computer
  • Insurance Claim for Scott's Phone
There is more on the list, but these were the biggies. I feel vindicated that it is only 1:00. 12:58 to be exact, time for Days of Our Lives! My day just keeps getting better.

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

My to do list is crazy. Yesterday I even snapped at S over it. We hardly argue, but man was I ready to swing for the fences. Instead we went to our separate corners and just chilled out for a bit. There isn't much of a juicy story, but the long and short of it is; I was complaining about mundane parenting issues and S asked if I had signed C up for summer camp yet. I was mad. It isn't my sole responsibility to plan the summer for our son, and I told S that exact thing. Then he offers to do it for me, but the way he says it makes it sound like he'll do it if I ask him too. Drives me crazy. Obviously I am super reasonable and say "no thanks, but thanks for offering." yeah - no, I didn't say that at all. I believe it was a very aggravated "F.O.R.G.E.T. IT!" and off I went to drown my sorrows in an episode of Days.

The to do list is really weighing on me. As always we have so many balls in the air that it is difficult to commit to other things. On top of this S comes home everyday with more news about orders. Last month the talk was all about Vegas, he even asked me to look up neighborhoods and schools. This month he comes home and is talking about so many different places because Vegas is over manned. Furthermore he has said that we could be out of here as early as September. At this point I don't think that is plausible, but the words are out there and they still cause stress. I just keep thinking if we end up overseas or on the West Coast I want to spend more time with my family and don't want to sign C up for a bunch of summer activities.

Okay enough whining. Today is going to be a gorgeous day, in the low nineties and I know one little boy who would love to come home to the kiddie pool set up! Today's to do list can certainly have some fun stuff too.

Life is Good

Best Quotes of the past week

  1. C: "Mom did you see me catching today? My glove was like a magnet, man I'm a good catcher."
  2. C: "I'll be riding my bike and then I'll come in for a beer!" Yup, he's seven. I yelled back "A ROOT BEER!"
  3. C: "Those fireworks were awesome and loud sort of like thunder or a fart only louder"
  4. Random Golfer "Is my ball in your yard? Nah never mind I suck"
  5. Grocery Store Clerk to me, Jamie: "Jenna, how are you - haven't seen you since Friday, how is Maddy?" It was Sunday ... Do I have a doppelganger out there somewhere?

A Day in the Life

If all our bills come out of our bank account today, we will have negative fourteen dollars. Hmm, good thing I transferred $$ from savings. We paid our deposit on the beach house/ condo this week. (fun, but such a big OUCH in the account) Anyway the transfer won't go through until tomorrow.

In the good news department: I bullied my way out of the second half of the dental bill. I just kept calling and complaining to the office and the insurance company; anyone who would listen. I even wrote a letter requesting that the dentist stop accepting United Concordia because his office cannot provide the services covered. I CC'd the insurance company too. Eventually the dentist's office got tired of hearing my voice and seeing my faxes and they said "alright, we'll send your check back to you and close the account." Victory is mine. Obviously what the doctor actaully meant when telling me they'd close the account is something along the lines of "you crazy Bitch, stop calling, stop writing, stop faxing, and suck it." I did promise Never To Return, obviously for their benefit.

The in-laws left today. The visit was pleasant enough. I was mentally checked out for most of it, as discussed previously I kept thinking about swimming pools, so things stayed pretty peachy. They're in-laws in some respect they will always be ... you can fill in the blank. Of course my husbands in-laws are magnificent. I say this with a complete straight face.
I am feeling better with the OHSS. I am surprised at how long recovery is actually taking. Last night we all went out to dinner and I was so darn thirsty. I drank five huge glasses of water and then realized that I was feeling other OHSS symptoms again. When we got home I hit the Gatorade pretty hard and took a few Tylenol. This seemed to do the trick but today I was pretty tired and achy, luckily our company left early and I had a few hours to veg out before I needed to be somewhere.

Around 11:00 T came over and returned my car. It felt strange to actaully drive it again. I took her over to Regan airport to help her get her rental car. Her family moves to Germany on Saturday. Saturday. Saturday. Gosh that sounds so soon. Well, I suppose that because it is. I miss her already and she isn't even gone. This dear diary would be the very bummer side of the Air Force. People move. This time we happen to be the last ones to move, normally we are the first. Strange feeling.

And that is the update. Life is getting back to the mundane. Well as much as it can be anyway.

Oh So Important

I cannot believe how boring life is since IVF ended. I feel like I am so out of the loop with friends and family. There again, at the same time, I've been really busy, just with boring stuff :)

The in-laws are still here and really it has been quite a nice visit. Personally, I just think about swimming pools and summer vacation when they're talking and everything just stays peachy. Randomly though I have still been very tired in the evenings, going to bed around nine. (Super early for me) I wake up normal time, six-ish. So the extra sleep has helped cope with the things. I suppose it isn't randomly, it is after all recovery, but I digress.

We're awaiting a call from the doctors to find out what our options are as far as our little frozen embryo goes. Until then we are just in limbo; hopeful limbo.

I'm IN!!!

Blogger has given me a heart attack. For some reason I haven't been able to login, post or see my comments. How rude! Oh well, life goes on.

Ironically there isn't that much to update. Health wise, I am still getting better each day. Mentally, I am a little drained but there again getting better each day. The in-laws are here and so far so good. And most importantly we are in the middle of planning our annual summer VK with J&K and baby A, (although he isn't exactly a baby anymore :) ) This year we are striving for Myrtle Beach. I am super excited about it. By far Myrtle Beach was my favorite vacation as a kid and I cannot wait to go back. Currently we are just pricing out condo's to rent for a week in July - man is it pricey. Hopefully that isn't a deal breaker. I know on my end it isn't (ha, ha) As discussed multiple times vacation is my number one spending priority.

And that my friends is the news.

Deep Cleasing Breaths

And she's cleaning. God it feels amazing. Steam cleaned the carpets, moped and waxed the wood floors, took down all the curtains to wash, reorganized the hall closet, made up the guest room, and still had time to eat breakfast and lunch out side with my little guy. Poor thing is home sick after getting sick on a field trip yesterday, but he seems fine now - we just wanted to be on the safe side.

Up next bathrooms and the office. I'd rather scrub toilets that clean this room. Dusty, no storage, and C eats in here, it just all adds up to one mess of a room.

Doctor said I should be able to run by next week. I cannot wait. I managed a good three mile walk yesterday for the first time in forever; fantastic. Since I stopped the progesterone I have lost three of the 20 (holy crap) pounds I have gained since IVF / OHSS. I hope it all comes off that easy. 17 more to go :)

Never Ending

I know there are quite a few of my friends out there who know exactly what this is like. Knowing you are pregnant and knowing you are loosing or have lost the baby. This time around, even if I was / am just a little bit pregnant it still hurts so bad. Today's test is about the same just a fraction less. I retest of Friday. Unless the HCG level is zero I could possibly need a D&C. Last time I took drugs at home, this time I'd have to go in due to the OHSS. Unbelievably the period I just had didn't do the job or I would have tested at zero this morning. There is just this little life that once was holding on in there, in me. Broken me. I thought I was ready to hear the news, I was wrong.

Normally I would be obsessing over cleaning every inch of every thing right about now but I am so tired. My body hurts and is sore. Every joint feels swollen and achy. When will it be out turn?

Back to Sleep

My Face Book status:

Going back to bed. You'd think after more than 30 hours of sleep over the weekend I'd be ultra chipper. I haven't slept this much since I had mono, in like 10th grade :)

So true. Saturday after the ball game I passed out until almost 6:00, got up for dinner and was back in bed by 10:30. Yesterday I napped from 11:30 to 6:00 and was fast asleep by 9:30. I did wake up early today (5:00) but had to leave by 6:00 anyway so I could get my blood drawn again. Good times. I'll get the results later today. Hopefully I'll wake up by then.

I am almost numb to the idea of that the results mean anything. The nurse through around so many what ifs that I am having trouble sorting them all out. Ectopic pregnancy, Continuing OHSS, a miracle, and so on and so forth.

Back to bed for me.

Heat Wave

Ahh Saturday.

We stayed up watching the Sox completely rock the Cubs, it was fantastic. Towards the end I was talking up a storm just to stay awake.

This morning we headed out to a few yard sales and to C's baseball game. The game was so much fun. C got three really big hits and played well. The weather was absolutely perfect and everyone including the parents were just in the best moods. I loved it.

Off Topic: I Am Going to Hell

All this talk about Rapture has my funny bone tickled. My favorite posts this week on Facebook:

Rapture Prank: Take old clothes and place them in people formation on your neighbors lawns

and my sisters link to Rock Me Sexy Jesus - hilariously sinful.

? Part 3

My Beta is at 13 today, still bleeding - heavily... another test on Monday. Pray.Pray.Pray.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

? Part 2

So how is this for a roller coaster. My test was a very low positive. My beta count was 8.3 just barely over the not pregnant count. I have to retest tomorrow and we'll see on Monday if the level goes up. But seriously, I have my period; cramps and all. My nurse said this is probably a chemical pregnancy but to stay cautiously optimistic.

If you need me before Monday I will be spoon deep in a bowl, or maybe the box, of Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream.

?

Well there still is now news on the test officially, but I got my period soooo yeah that sucks. The silver lining, we have one frozen embryo and we can try again in the summer.

Next

I have this running rant in my head about how horrible our son's dentist is, the bastard charged us 1200 + dollars for four fillings after estimating our cost was 582.00, but it is thundering and lighting so I better make it a quick post. Here are the highlights:

  1. Dentist = asshole
  2. Grandma = very sick, in hospice care = very sad
  3. Pregnancy Beta test taken today, results tomorrow or Friday (I still think they are negative = booo)
  4. S = home from Florida.
Yowza - that is a lot of lightning! GTG!

Proof of Disaster

I certainly must still have some hope that it all worked because I am freaking out over here! Today after baseball practice I let C go to the playground with the rest of his team. I was there watching as all these kids were racing between two play sets playing a rousing game of dinosaur tag. Suddenly I saw C and one of his friends run past the second play area. I ran to catch up with them and corral them back.

IVF rule: No strenuous exercise. NO RUNNING.

I could actaully feel my ovaries bouncing around in there, after all they are still larger than normal. Then I had some major cramping. Freaking out.

S called and I was just a mess talking to him. Of course I know I am being irrational. I jogged only about 25 yards. But still the tears were flowing. I have been trying so hard to follow every rule and recommendation, even the silliest of the silliest. But an important one I just forgot about. Granted I was a mom on a mission: Safety first.
Then there is my mother-in-law...

My mind has been going over a conversation I had with her today. As much as I tell myself she means well and only wants the best of the best for us I can't shake her words. "Well if things don't work the way you planned it is okay, you already have one and he is really a lot of work and needs all of your attention." "Some families were just meant to stay small." "It isn't like you could handle 10 or 12 kids anyway." She also added a whole slew of unhelpfulness by saying classic phrases such as, don't you just hate when people who shouldn't even have kids have them, this so isn't fair, besides you just never know what you are going to get it could be really bad, and if you barely handled the bloating from OHSS than how would you even handle being pregnant? But the OHSS could have been replaced by anything, if you can't handle X than maybe shouldn't even want to try to accomplish Y and Z.

This year I have actaully done a good job of being a good daughter-in-law. L has actaully done a good job of being a great mother-in-law. Today I was just sensitive and had a hard time hearing things that I have heard from people over the last 12 years. I am not a bad person because I want more children. I am not a bad person because we have one very loved child. And I am sorry but I couldn't talk her through our problems without feeling overwhelmed. "No mom, it isn't fair, but that is fine. There isn't anything we can do about that aspect and it has been a lot of years for us to be okay with that." "C will always have our attention, he isn't too much work, he is a great kid and we are committed parents." "If I could have 12 kids I would in a heart beat but right now we are just trying to stay hopeful for one more." "I really can handle being pregnant, I look forward to it."

I am so teary eyed. Hormones. Err.

And since I am just not that thrilled at the moment let me just add another rant: I lent my friend my car. She is moving to Germany in two weeks and had to ship hers. I completely offered more than once and wanted to help out. Yesterday I went out of my way to bring the car to her in DC. I wanted to go. Today she calls me to ask a question about the heated seats- she couldn't find the switch and was pretty much burning her biscuits. (I found that kind of funny) Then she proceeds to tell me that it is a good car but probably needs some shocks. It isn't really a secret, the car is 12 years old, I bought it really cheap and it only has to last us until the end of this year, but it is dependable and I had it serviced a few weeks ago knowing I was going to lend it out. I want my friend to use it, I want to help her. But can I just add that it just erks me when you lend something to someone and they point out the faults.

Once I lent this guy I worked with my old Jetta and he came back and said that my clutch was going. I was like "really, it wasn't this morning." Jackass. Another time I let a friend use my carpet cleaner and she called to tell me that the filter was sort of smelly. Annoying - plus she returned it full of cat hair! Another time, many moons ago, we lent a friend our lawn mower and he returned it saying that it cut to low and kept kicking up rocks. Nothing wrong with the mower dude, adjust the level by using the lever next to the wheel, or better yet return it with a broken blade like you did.

If I could think of more wounds to open and add salt too I would continue. As stated earlier: Hormones. Err.

Comfort Food

Thank you to all who commented and emailed me! I know that no matter how things turn out; I'm OK. Weak moment I suppose. I am still not convinced but am more hopeful. For now I am going to try not to think about it and just take it easy. C and I dropped S off at the airport this morning (Florida this week) so there should be no problem vegging out and ignoring reality for a few more days. :) Also, I plan on going to the market today and purchasing vast amounts of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Randomly yesterday after having two lunches I vowed to eat only salad today - it is 7:42am and that is so out the window! hee, hee.

Nonmotivational Speaking

I don't think IVF worked. Last time I remember feeling all these symptoms like twinges and weird stretches, this time I am fine. Although I am tired, but that could be anything and everything. Honestly I am in sort of a funk about it. Not all depressed and weepy, granted if my hunch is right I will be there soon, but just in a crabby mood. I suppose by now a home test would work, my blood test is Wednesday, but I just don't feel like being on the fast track to deep dark black hole depression. It could happen. Furthermore we still haven't found out if we have any embryos that were frozen and this is causing me stress. Do I morn them now or later or all at once or one at a time?

Motivational Speaking

I am so tired this afternoon. Oh well, no complaints, after all I do feel better. The pressure has almost completely stopped and my stomach has gone down some; a few days ago I couldn't even zip my sweatshirt up over my belly! I swear I looked 6 months pregnant. So now I am focused more on that little embryo inside me. Stick, stick, stick!

This morning I toured my own blog. Having tried all this two years ago pretty much to the month was heart wrenching but to go back and read the things I deemed important enough to mention then didn't actaully leave me with sadness. Sure I wish after that little embryo stuck it actaully stayed stuck and grew but it didn't. And it is sad, but I can handle that one now. Granted I logged a lot of hours on the little red couch at the therapists office in order to do so. However looking back I felt stronger, and more confident, still goofy and mentioning fart jokes; and boy were the visit to the IVF clinic funny - I'd actaully forgotten most of it. But I got through it and now I am finding a lot of the feelings, both physical and emotional, are par for the course even with the added stress of OHSS. I am OK.

Stick, stick, stick, grow, grow, grow. Please, Please, Please. Amen.

One

Well; transfer happened. After multitudes of testing and consults the doctors were certain that if we transfer one embryo my body could handle it. Basically I was diagnosed with OHSS but luckily was missing the number one IVF killer which is fluid build up. All the doctors and nurses were so surprised, and us too. I suppose this is all cryptic for those non-IVFers out there; or even me a few years from now. So here is a basic rundown
  • 3 days after retrieval surgery I started to feel very bad
  • My clothes started to not fit; I couldn't zip one pair of jeans and the 'fat' pants I bought specifically for IVF which were just yoga pants a size up didn't fit either!
  • I felt so much pressure between my ribs and pelvis that I thought I was just constipated from the pain killers
  • I stopped taking the pain killers but after the constipation deal ended the pain still continued
  • I was basically in a fetal position and unable to move
  • We called the Emergency number and they told us to get there ASAP, we went (hence previous post)
  • I didn't get much better and was in so much pain; feeling bloated and unable to eat or drink anything
  • The next day we went back to the hospital. I puked all the way there. Seriously - it was nasty. My poor husbands car; luckily I hadn't eaten food in a long time. I know - way too much info
  • When we got the to the hospital they sent me for labs and told me to try to eat and drink
  • After almost six hours of waiting and testing the doctors determined that I have Ovarian Hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and that my ovaries are in fact the size of grapefruits
  • The doctors determined that my body reacted to the HCG shot but because I didn't have the fluid build up I could still do the transfer
  • They cautioned us to only use on embryo because if we transferred two and they both implanted I could get really sick and we would loose both; it didn't take much convincing for us to use only one
So here I am on day two of bed rest out of three; I am sick, really sick. Nausea and pressure are keeping me from doing much. Thank GOD my mother is here. She is doing all the laundry, she cleaned the bathroom, and had even made dinner every night since she's been here. Well, my time limit is up; sitting upright isn't much of an option for very long. Thanks to all for all the prayers :) They WORKED.

Not Funny

Off this morning to an emergency visit to the IVF ward at Walter Reed. In the end it ended up being swollen ovaries that we causing the majority of the pain. While doing an ultrasound the doctor noted "Whoa, your ovaries are like 10 times the size they should be." Another doctor noted during a second ultrasound that my full bladder was the same size as my left ovary. Yowzaa.

So as it stands right now, I was given more shots, this time blood thinners, and told to drink my weight in Gatorade. Transfer is tomorrow, but most likely we will be told to freeze our embryos (if they last) and return in a few months.

I am sort of bummed out but honestly not that upset; better to be healthy and feeling good. Although sitting upright at the moment is a VAST improvement. Prayers for me.

A Numbers Game

Well our numbers looked great this morning. 1 grade one embryo and 10 grade 2's. So now we wait a few more days and hope for a blast or two to transfer on day 5. Thank goodness. Honestly there is no way I could have survived transfer this morning. (we had to go into the hospital to find out this information) The Percocet is doing a number on me. Pay attention to number one:

Side Effects:
Constipation; dizziness; drowsiness; flushing; lightheaded; mental/mood changes; nausea; vision changes; vomiting

I suppose that would be number two. Again hysterically laughing at my own jokes. Why is it I make so many fart, poop, and belching references? Perhaps I am really a boy inside? Yeah - no. No worries there. Perhaps it just isn't allowed in society so I over compensate. Yeah - no, I said Who-ha in Wal-Mart the other day. No worries there. Perhaps it is because it is just really funny, in that crude red neck sort of way. Yup, like school in the summer time. No Class. Also, if you just look at my sister M and say poop with no context what so ever she is sure to spit out whatever liquid she is consuming at the time. C and I do it to her all the time. It - Just - Funny.

La La Land

So I have more or less been out of it for the past few days. I had retrieval surgery a few days ago and it went well. We ended up with 24 eggs, 14 of which fertilized. We are very lucky and this time I actaully feel that way. Tomorrow we have a scheduled transfer but if we still have 8 or more embryos we'll probably wait until they are 5 days old to get the strongest ones. If there are less than 8 we transfer tomorrow and grow the rest to day six to see if any of them can be frozen. So, here we have it the IVF scoop .

In  other non- related news that will somehow end up related: yesterday I was feeling well so M and I ran over to Walmart - yes I realize I have no love for the place - anyway we had a few things to pick up, including my birthday present (I saved some $ my mommy and aunt sent), a blu-ray wireless DVD player. Today we have to go back out to get the right cable for it (figures - LOL). So, then we head over to the gas station to fill up and this very nice man whom reminded me of my dad starts telling M that one of our tires are low. Since it is my car I get out to take a look and sure enough it is really low. So after some chit chat and 45 dollars for 12 gallons of gas we head over to Sears and have the tire checked out. It had a nail in it. Oddly I think that nail has been there since November. I just kept putting more air in the tire.

All of this might not be all that riveting. Well, alright, it isn't at all entertaining. Here are the moreentertaining parts: tidbits for posterity: while looking for pantyliners in the store I tell M, honestly and openly as if there is no one else around; "The medicine that goes up my "Who-Ha" is leaking. " She laughed out loud at the word "Who-ha" and an old lady looked at me as if lightening was going to strike me down. Secondly, while in JC Penny the mechanic looking at my car called and asked if there was a trick to opening my door. I replied "yeah, unlock it". What a moron. He continues to tell me that the key tag won't open the door (dead battery) and the electric locks won't work ..... DIP SHIT! If they don't work manually unlock the doors. The lady in line behind me was so cute and funny she says "boy and they are suppose to be the stronger sex". As long as I am not using words like "Who-ha" old ladies generally love me. We continued to have a rather fun conversation about the pitfalls of men.

TRIGGER ME

So this is the day, the ones IVFers look forward to, or dread the most. It is the biggest shot, the big daddy or mama is you prefer, it is that actual, not proverbial, shot in the ass. Good times, actaully if memory recalls it wasn't too bad. This HCG shot makes you get ready to release the eggs but just before they ready to go (about a day and a half later) you go into surgery for the retrieval surgery. The next few steps just including waiting and hearing about how those little embryos are growing until it is time to stick them back in (transfer) for us it will probably be Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. It is kind of exciting to get towards the end of the shots and to hear how many embryos we will have. I'd use the term cautiously optimistic, but that almost feels negative, I'll stick with excited to see what life brings me next.

In other non-IVF news: M got here yesterday, super awesome! It was so nice to have her go with me to today appointment, and to see her try to suppress a laugh and series of "OH MY GOD" gasps when she saw the magic probing wand. (I know I said non-IVF news - all consuming people, all consuming :) )

Also, In Barnes and Noble this morning I fell on a toilet seat, completely crashed down on to my left cheek. Apparently the store is Little People friendly and I just didn't realize how low that commode actaully was and the next thing I know I yell "Oh Crap" ... in the bathroom - in a public bathroom -and I wasn't the only one in there. The irony of choosing crap as my expletive cracks me up. Yup, I am the chick that laughs at her own jokes.

US/BW

Ultrasound and Bloodwork this morning. I had a really nice doctor, not that my other one isn't nice, he certainly is the best - but the weekender wasn't half bad. Things are looking good. 20+ eggs all measuring between 12 and 19. Honestly, I don't even really understand all that - I figure if I did it would just be something else to stress over. So I asked the doc if everything is on track and he said "text book". Love it!
